Cooper & Company is always highly honored to be chosen to work on higher education projects like Emory University.  The University recently awarded Cooper with the opportunity to make improvements to the Chappell Baseball Park facility for the University’s baseball program.

Chappell Park is in the process of adding a single-story facility that houses 35 additional lockers, bathroom, and media area for the baseball players.  In addition, coach’s offices and a lounge are being added to the facility. The new area is being added right next to the school’s playing facility at Chappell Park.

Project Manager Mike Westbrooks talked about the challenge that we always face when managing construction projects with tight areas to operate.  “The site logistics for this particular project are difficult from the standpoint that we are having to be strategic from how much room we have to not have crews working on top of each other.”

In addition, unsuitable soils for construction have led the team at Cooper to install micropiles to maintain structural stability in the coming years. Mike stated that “with construction taking place right near the field, we have had to maintain good communication with both the subcontractors and University to continue moving this toward a successful completion.”

The new facility for Emory should be complete and ready for the team to utilize for the Spring Baseball season.
